BECOME A TUTOR
It is our belief that true academic excellence begins with confidence in the classroom
Become a Tutor
Since 2011, we have worked hard to build a team of qualified, experienced, and diversely talented instructors who share our passion for education and exemplify our values through their work in the classroom.
To ensure the quality and consistency of our tutoring services, MASTERs Plus only hires candidates who demonstrate three key qualities that make learning possible.
Expertise
Our tutors are experts in their subject areas and have the credentials to match. In addition to passing a MASTERs Plus-administered skills test, all candidates must have appropriate Illinois teaching certification and, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience
In order to best assist our diverse body of students, we do our best to select instructors who have had prior teaching or tutoring experience. Where that is not possible, we are also happy to provide dedicated, credentialed candidates with an environment to garner experience, make a difference, and succeed.
Enthusiasm
We hire tutors not just because they are good at helping students learn, but also because they care deeply about the students they help. At MASTERs Plus, tutoring is more than a paycheck. It is a chance to become a mentor and make an impact that will last a lifetime.
Zena began sowing the seeds of a life in education as early as the age of eight when, under the guidance of family patriarch “Centennial Samuels,” she committed herself to reading, math, and the sciences. As a result of her commitment, Zena excelled throughout elementary and high school, garnering attention from several prestigious universities across the country.
In addition to the assets above, qualified candidates will have up to ten hours of weekend availability per week as well as a reliable form of transportation to and from the tutoring center.
As a part of our team, you can look forward to a structured environment in which to excel professionally. All tutors receive paid training and ongoing support. Once trained, tutors are paired with students whose unique needs best match their personal skill set.
Tutoring sessions are one or two hours and are scheduled for nights and weekends to accommodate the workweek obligations or our instructors and students.
All employment opportunities are part time and flexible; however, candidates who are only seeking summer employment need not apply.
